The Montessori philosophy stresses the development of internal discipline within each child. The classroom is a society which encourages self control and responsibility for one`s own actions. Everyone is free to choose their own work as long as they do not interfere with the rights of others. In the event that interference is required by the teacher, the teacher will provide firm, positive statements as to the correction of the behavior and negative behavior is redirected. Children are encouraged to solve their own interpersonal conflicts as long as those conflicts pose no physical threat to any child.

Montessori Children's Garden parent visitation policy is an open door policy. At any time parents who have students enrolled in the program, are welcome and encouraged to visit their child throughout the day. A parent`s visit can be scheduled or unscheduled. We do ask however, that at the time of any visit the parent keep in mind the daily schedule of the child and other children and ensure that their time at the school does not become disruptive to their child or the program in general.

The school will be closed during the 2006-2007 school year on the following days:

Depending on what day of the week the holiday falls, school closure days may change. Montessori Children's Garden will post holiday schedules prior to each holiday. *MCG may also schedule Institute Days. During these days, school is open for full-day students only and the atmosphere is more relaxed. (Ex. Spring break)

Tuition remains the same for a holiday week as a non-holiday week. If a holiday falls on a weekend, parents will be notified of the scheduled day of observance, which will be in accordance with other businesses and professional services.

Vacations: Montessori Children's Garden will provide a 100% discount off of one week`s tuition in a 12 month time period to allow for family vacations. Additional tuition discounts will not be provided for additional vacation time taken. Vacation discounts may not be rolled over into the next 12 month time period. Vacation discounts ARE NOT applicable for families taking a summer hiatus.

Illnesses: Tuition fees will remain the same whether or not a child attends school according to the contracted weekly schedule. However, in certain cases a child may be taken with a prolonged illness, and Montessori Children's Garden will provide a 50% discount off of tuition for up to 2 weeks. Prolonged illnesses will be reviewed on a case by case basis, and must be substantiated by a doctor`s note and release to return to school.
