COVID-19 Information

Learn how MCG is keeping students, staff, and families safe during the COVID-19 pandemic

We are welcoming students and families back to Montessori Children's Garden, but are ensuring everyone is abiding by guidelines put in place by our health experts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Read below for MCG's latest guidelines for children returning to school.

Important Updates

  • Students will be welcomed to school via the "drop off" car line and greeted by parents for pick up via the "pick up" car line. Parents will not enter the building except in a situation deemed an emergency by a staff member.
  • Temperature checks will be taken upon arrival and midday. Any temperature greater than 100.4 degrees will require the child to be picked up ASAP by a parent or guardian.
  • Wellness checks and stringent monitoring for presence of other COVID-19 symptoms will take place throughout the day. Students may be sent home if symptoms persist.
  • Students sent home due to fever will be allowed to return after either testing negative for COVID-19 OR after remaining at home for 14 days.
  • Students sent home for other symptoms not related to COVID-19 will be allowed to return after 48 hours pending monitoring by parents and/or child physician. A note from the physician may be required in some cases.
  • Families of students attending MCG will need to commit to practicing shelter at home requirements.
  • Families of students attending MCG will need to commit to practicing social distancing as recommended.
  • Families of students attending MCG will need to agree to report any exposure to COVID-19 of any immediate family member and/or child while enrolled.

Inside the Classroom

  • Increased distancing of children and staff within the classrooms and building.
  • Efforts to minimize any contact between classrooms (each classroom east. plays, and works along with the students in their classroom).
  • Increased hand washing and hygiene awareness.
  • Face masks and/or face shields required for all staff.
  • Operating hours are temporarily revised to 8 am - 5 pm to allow for additional morning preparation and cleaning/sanitizing upon closing each day.

Should an exposure to COVID-19 occur during school hours at the school, MCG will contact the Department of Health and Department of Child Federal Services (DCFS) and follow their instructions. The operations of the school would close temporarily and a review of exposure risks within the building would take place. Timing could range between 3-14 days. The school would then re-open with current operating restrictions and guidelines.
